The best way to secure heavily discounted tickets is to be a season subscriber. But there are other ways of securing discounted tickets to individual performances.
Previews
LaBoite's preview performances in the 2010 main season are significantly reduced from $46 to $25. Queensland Theatre Company and Brisbane Powerhouse generally offer a $10 discount on ticket prices for preview performances.
Youth Discounts
If you are categorized as Youth (e.g. La Boite Theatre and Queensland Theatre Company - 30 years or under or Gardens Theatre QUT – 24 years or under), you can receive significant reductions on single ticket and season subscription purchases. For example, at La Boite Theatre, if you are categorized as Youth, the full adult price of $46 per ticket is reduced by $20 to $26 per ticket. Queensland Theatre Company reduces tickets rom $55 to $30 for those under $30. QUT Gardens Theatre reduces their ticket price from $38 to $24 for those 24 or under. I encourage you to take advantage of these discounts. When that birthday finally arrives and you find yourself excluded from these benefits, you will reminisce about the good old days!
Concessions
In addition members and card-holders of Full Time Student Cards, Government Issued Pension/ Senior Healthcare Cards, Laboite also offers concession tickets to members and card-holders of Australian Writer's Guild, QUT staff, MEAA, Playlab, QLD Writers' Centre, Artshub, Dendy Club, Seniors/ Seniors Business Cards. This reduces the full price of $46 by $7 to $39.
Group Discounts
LaBoite offers tickets $40 each for 5+, excluding booking fee. QTC offers Adult Groups of 10+ from $50.00 per person.
Other Special Offers
La Boite offers a $15 Student Rush to performances (excluding Opening Night) provided they purchase the ticket at the Box Office one hour prior to the performance. Only 10 seats are available at this discounted rate. Members of Laboite's Artist Register can get $20 tickets to any Preview performance in the 2010 Main Season. Other limited specials may be available for particular performances. For example, for every performance of The Kursk in September 2009, La Boite Theatre made available 20 tickets for just $20 each. Metro Arts Independents Season offers Cheap Tuesdays - $12 tickets at the door (no bookings).
